The term ‘faith healing’ is best known in connection with Christianity. Some people say that the bible, mainly in the new testament, it teaches belief in, and practice of faith healing. Supporters say that real faith healings do take place today just as they did in the early Christian church. Faith Healing has wide ranging successes all across the world. There have been rumours claims that faith can cure blindness, deafness cancer, AIDS, developmental disorders, anaemia, arthritis, corns, defective speech, multiple skin sclerosis, total body paralysis and all over injuries in the body. It is said that Jesus preformed many miracles throughout his life. He made it so the blind could see, the lame could walk, the deaf can hear, the dead are raised to life, lepers are made clean and so on.

One well-known story of one of Jesus’ miracles is Raising a widows son:

(Luke 7:11-17)

Approaching the town of Nain, the dead and only son of a widow, was being carried out. When Jesus saw this He had compassion for the widow and told her not to weep. He then touched the bier and said “Young man, I say to you, rise!” The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother. The people seeing this, glorified God, and the word about Him spread throughout Judea, and all the surrounding country.

This ‘miracle’ is seen as a form of faith healing. Jesus’ strong belief in God gave him the power to heal anyone who had faith in himself or faith in God. Jesus was human some people believe that if Jesus’ faith in God could help him heal people, then anyone in this world either throughout history or even today can heal somebody if they have faith in themselves and in God.

There is also a story in which walks into a church where a man is taking fits and all over the place because he has an ‘evil spirit’ inside him. The story says that the demon notices Jesus’ presence almost immediately after Jesus’ walks in the room. Jesus commands the beast to set the man free and to leave his body and not come back. The demon obeys him and the man is cured. This is another form of Jesus’ faith healing and miracles.

Faith healing seems just as popular as it always was. There’ll be some people in society who believe in healing and even practice faith healing but on the other hand there will be people who don’t believe a word and believe that the only form of healing is through medicine and surgery. People’s knowledge of Faith or ‘Spiritual’ healing has expanded over the many years. There are a lot of genuine people who can perform this type of healing but there are others who try and fake it just to make a living. It is not fair that this happens but when you find a proper healer it will all be good in the end. Lots of people study the Chakras in the body to develop their healing skills. The word chakra comes from a Sanskrit word meaning wheel. Chakras are described as energy centres along the spine located at the major branchings of the human nervous system. They begin at the base of the spinal column and moving upward to the top of the skull. Chakras are considered to be the main energy points or prana of the human body. Shumsky states that “prana is the basic component of your subtle body, your energy field, and the entire chakra system… the key to life and source of energy in the universe.” The chakra on the top of the head is called the root chakra, the pineal glad otherwise known as the third eye, is either called the brow chakra or the third eye chakra. Next is the throat chakra which is obviously located in the throat of the human body. Lower down the body is the heart chakra located around the heart area. Around your navel area is where the solar plexus chakra lies. The ovaries or prostate in the body is where the sacral chakra is. And last the chakra on the last bone of the spine is called the base or root chakra. To perform the healing rituals the healer will possibly place their hands over the sore area to focus on curing it. If they focus on the chakra and connect with the energy from the chakra closest to the pain then it can be cured a lot more than if they did not use any technique at all.
